Treatment of iron deficiency with ferrous bis-glycinate

In Europe and worldwide, iron deficiency is one of the leading nutritional deficiency disorders affecting large sections of the population, particularly groups such as children, menstruating women, and pregnant women.

Certain factors, such as the type of contraception in women, blood donation, or slight pathological blood loss, increase the difficulty of meeting iron needs. In addition, people on low-energy diets appear to be at high risk of iron deficiency.

Iron supplements often contain significantly more iron than the body can absorb, with large amounts of unabsorbed iron remaining in the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract.

Increased iron levels in the gastrointestinal tract affect the composition of the gut microbiota, helping to increase levels of enteropathogenic microorganisms and decrease protective Lactobacilli species.

Iron bis-glycinate

Iron bis-glycinate is formed by bonding an iron atom with two glycine molecules through covalent and coordination bonds. Essentially, the amino acid glycine chelates iron, forming a chemically inert compound that is absorbed into the intestinal mucosa by a mechanism that is absorbed 3-4 times higher than ferrous sulfate.

This different intercellular mechanism of its absorption into intestinal cells, compared to other iron elements, plays a role in the absence of gastrointestinal symptoms, as it is 100% soluble in water at pH2 and pH 6, suggesting that iron is absorbed not only in the duodenum but also in other parts of the small intestine.

Also, ferrous bis-glycinate's ability to break down faster due to the weaker bonds between the molecules that hold it together makes this soluble but stable compound significantly gentler on the stomach than ferrous sulfate.

In multiple studies, ferrous bis-glycinate has also been shown to improve absorption and storage and increase hemoglobin levels better than conventionally used iron salts, advising that it may be an excellent choice, not only for people who have digestive problems or bowel diseases but for everyone.

Iron Softly absorbed

Our nutritional supplement IRON SOFTLY ABSORBED contains patented iron bis-glycinate Ferrochel®, which has better absorption and does not cause any gastrointestinal side effects.

It is ionically neutral by its patented chelation process, unlike most iron supplements, which are positively charged.

Thus, IRON SOFTLY ABSORBED does not block the absorption of other nutrients, making it an ideal solution for pregnant mothers and infants and anyone who wants to benefit from iron intake without the side effects.
